Halloween is almost here! Join your friends for a Glow in Dark Party: Halloween Edition hosted by the Danbury Library! Create cool glow in the dark crafts, play games, put on some glow in the dark tattoos ( kid friendly) and much more.

Program Description for Glow In the Dark Paint Night

Come to the library and enjoy a paint night with Glow in the Dark Paint!

In this program, you will create freestyle paintings that glow!

Día de Los Muertos Celebration

Program Description:

Learn about Día de Los Muertos, a traditional Mexican celebration that takes place each November. Listen to cultural stories and music, and decorate a “sugar” skull. Sugar skulls or calaveras are ornately decorated edible skulls that represent the dead. In this project we will decorate foam skulls with paint markers to take home.


Traditional Mexican pan dulce, a sweet bread, will be offered for participants to taste.

Glow in the Dark Slime

Program Description:

Ready to get messy? So are we! Mix up some slimy ingredients, then turn out the lights and watch your slime glow!

Test Tube Science

Program Description:

Become a scientist for a day! In this program, we’ll conduct four different test tube science experiments ranging from mixing colors to making a hurricane!

Alphabet Celebrations

Let’s have an alphabet celebration!  In this mini-series, we will have some fun with letters N, O, P, Q, R,  and S. (Stay tuned for more letters coming up in future classes!)

Each week we will watch a quick Alphablocks video and do group activities that teach children more about letters and letter sounds. Then, we will read a story together and make some alphabet artwork celebrating the letters of the week.

Free! For children ages 3-5 and their caregivers.

Holiday Craft Series: Pinecone Christmas Tree

Celebrate the Holiday season at the Danbury Library and come make your own Pinecone Christmas Tree! Registration Recommended. For ages 7 and up (or younger with adult supervision).

Finger Puppet Series

Come to the library and enjoy making finger puppets out of various fabrics! In this series, you will make puppets ranging from an owl to a frog!

History Dive: Tiki Masks and the Hawaiian People

In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we’ll take a history dive and learn about ancient ancient Polynesian and Hawaiian culture with an emphasis on Tiki Masks and their significance.  We’ll finish off the program by making your own Tiki Mask!

Sewing Series for Kids

Come to the library and learn some basic sewing techniques! In this series, you will make various types of plushies to take home and show off to family and friends!

Sensory Play

Preschoolers are invited to get a little messy and have a lot of fun with a collection of sensory play stations each week. Bring your little one for some hands-on, minds-on explorations and experimentations with common materials found around the kitchen and playroom! 

Cuentitos Para Pequeñitos: Invierno!

¡Descubre el invierno con su pequeño lector! Escuche cuentos, cante canciones y juegue con su hijo en este programa de cuentos.

Junior Engineers: Brush Bots

Choose your own design ranging from shark to baby chicken to construct and decorate your mini bristle bot. Once built, test your mini bot’s mettle in the bristle bot boxing ring and maze challenge.

·    Design and implement culturally diverse and in-house programming that reflect the City of Danbury

·     Negotiate effectively with outside presenters ensuring in delivery of more outside programming.

·    Accelerated attendance growth and retention through the increase of programing from 2-4 a week resulting in an average attendance of 18 attendees per program.

·    Surpassed programming expectations by executing 410 + programs from 2022-2024 leading to a 2,000 programming budget increase.

·    Empower and educate volunteers on navigating the library and promotion of library events prompting in an increase of library services and programs.
